Why Roses on the Water...

I've been asked to explain why I chose this particular name for my blog. "Roses" is the easy part - I've always loved this elegant flower and over the years reproduced it in oils, acrylics, frosting, fabrics and silk. I have to admit that silk is the ultimate source and I will never tire of making these beautiful flowers.

"On the water" requires a more lengthy explanation. For the past 7 1/2 years my husband and I have lived on a 40' motorsailer that we call "The Rose." Told you I had a thing with roses! Since childhood he has always dreamed of living on a boat so after his retirement we made the dream a reality.

The choice to move from my home was not an easy one. I moved from a 3 bedroom brick home with 2 baths and a over-sized double car garage to a tiny boat. The choice was made much easier when he promised I could stitch all I wanted. At times I'm sure he regrets that promise.

My ability to collect stash is somewhat hampered. I can always find a "nook or cranny" somewhere to hide those things I can't live without.

Welcome to the blogging world.
Your wallhanging for your son is beautiful. He surely likes it.
It must have been a bit difficult to move from your house to a boat. I can't imagine myself doing so, but love is a powerful incentive...

WOW!! I am so amazed that you live on a boat! It seems so dreamy and heavenly. Congrats on your beautiful blog and your amazing art especially the silk roses with the burned edges.
